South Korea, Italy Discuss Trade, Technology, and Global Challenges in Seoul Meeting
SEOUL: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Monday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in trade, investment, and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).
The leaders also explored opportunities for collaboration in science, technology, and high-tech industries, particularly in aerospace and defense sectors. Discussions extended to regional and international issues, as well as joint efforts to tackle global challenges such as climate change.
“By combining Italy’s traditional strengths as a scientific powerhouse with the core DNA of the Republic of Korea as a technology leader, the two countries can create significant synergy,” President Lee said.
Prime Minister Meloni emphasized the importance of identifying new areas for cooperation, including critical-mineral supply chains, semiconductors, transportation, and infrastructure, among others.
The meeting highlighted both countries’ commitment to deepening economic and technological partnerships while addressing shared global priorities.
