Speaker Stresses Stronger Parliamentary Ties With EU to Boost Cooperation
ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday underscored the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary linkages between Pakistan and European Union member states to promote mutual understanding and enhance cooperation.
He made the remarks during a meeting with the European Union’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Raimundas Karoblis, at the Parliament House.
The speaker reaffirmed his commitment to further deepening cordial relations with the EU and highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing shared interests. He warmly welcomed the EU ambassador and emphasized the need for sustained parliamentary engagement.
Both sides held detailed discussions on Pakistan–EU bilateral relations, opportunities to expand cooperation in various sectors, and key regional and global developments.
Ayaz Sadiq conveyed his best wishes for peace and stability in Europe, particularly in Ukraine, and expressed hope for a peaceful resolution of the Russia–Ukraine conflict.
Ambassador Karoblis congratulated Pakistan on its GSP+ status and expressed keen interest in further strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union.
He also appreciated the positive role of the Pakistani diaspora in EU member states, acknowledging their contributions to the development and prosperity of European societies.
The ambassador commended Ayaz Sadiq for promoting democratic values and for presiding over National Assembly proceedings in a democratic, transparent, and impartial manner.
