Tensions Rise Between Washington London Over Iran Action
The United Kingdom has refused to allow the United States to use British military bases for any action against Iran.
According to a report by a British journal, the UK government has made it clear that US forces will not be permitted to use British military bases for any potential operation against Iran.
The report said British officials have taken the position that participation in any attack on Iran without clear legal justification could constitute a violation of international law.
It added that the refusal to provide military bases has increased tensions between Washington and London.
US President Donald Trump has said that it may be necessary for the United States to use airfields located at Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford to eliminate a potential attack from what he described as an extremely unstable and dangerous government.
