Trump Names U.S. Officials to Oversee Venezuela Operations, Asserts Personal Control
President Donald Trump has announced the U.S. officials who will help manage the country’s involvement in Venezuela, revealing the details in an interview with NBC News.
According to Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and Vice President J.D. Vance will participate in governing Venezuela.
When asked who would have ultimate authority, Trump responded simply: “Me.”
In the same interview, Trump stated that Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who was sworn in as acting president following the U.S. abduction of former President Nicolás Maduro, is cooperating with U.S. officials.
The president clarified that there had been no contact with Rodríguez prior to the U.S. operation in Venezuela. He also suggested that if Rodríguez ceases cooperation, the U.S. might consider a second military intervention in the country.
