Trump Threatens Stronger Action If Iran Blocks Oil Route
US President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that the country would face a significantly intensified response from the United States if its leadership attempts to disrupt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Warns Iran Of Severe Military Response
In remarks posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said that Iran would be struck by the United States “twenty times harder than they have been hit thus far” if Iranian authorities interfere with the flow of oil through the vital maritime passage. The statement came despite Trump’s earlier comments suggesting that the conflict in the Middle East was nearing its conclusion.

The US president warned that severe consequences would follow any attempt to block the strategic waterway. He said that “death, fire and fury” would descend on Iran if such actions were taken, while also expressing hope that the situation would not escalate to that point.
Trump Issues Stark Warning Over Strait Of Hormuz Disruption
Trump further stated that the United States could target infrastructure that he described as “easily destroyable,” adding that such strikes would make it extremely difficult for Iran to rebuild key capabilities. He also described the warning as beneficial to countries heavily reliant on oil shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz, including China and other major energy-importing nations.

The Strait of Hormuz, located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is considered one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints. It serves as the only sea passage connecting the Persian Gulf to the open ocean and is a crucial route for global oil supplies. A significant portion of the world’s oil shipments travels through this narrow waterway, making any disruption a major concern for international energy markets.
Trump’s warning followed remarks he made during an interview with CBS News, where he suggested that the conflict involving Iran had largely concluded.
Trump Says Iran Would Face Massive Retaliation Measures
“I think the war is very complete, pretty much,” Trump said during the interview. He added that Iran had lost key military capabilities, claiming that the country no longer possessed a navy, communications systems, or an air force capable of continuing the conflict.

During a later press conference, a journalist questioned the president’s statement that the war was nearing completion, pointing out that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had described the situation differently, stating that the conflict represented only the beginning of a broader campaign.

When asked to clarify the apparent contradiction, Trump responded that both perspectives could be considered accurate, saying, “You could say both.”
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded to Trump’s remarks by emphasizing that the outcome of the conflict would ultimately be determined by Iran. In a brief statement, the organization said, “We are the ones who will determine the end of the war.”
Iran Vows To Decide Outcome Of Ongoing Conflict
Separately, Iran announced on Sunday evening that Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei would succeed his father as the country’s supreme leader. When asked whether he had a message for Iran’s new leadership, Trump responded that he had “none whatsoever.”

Meanwhile, Trump addressed reports about differing views within his administration regarding the ongoing conflict. He noted that Vice President JD Vance had expressed somewhat less enthusiasm about the war, citing Vance’s experience as a veteran of the Iraq War.
According to Trump, while Vance held a slightly different philosophical perspective, the two leaders remained aligned overall on the issue. The president said that although there were differing views about the approach, he believed the actions taken were necessary and that there had been no alternative.
