Trump Urges Pardon for Netanyahu in Corruption Case

WASHINGTON : U.S. President Donald Trump has called for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be granted a pardon in an ongoing corruption case.

In a statement, Trump said Netanyahu should receive a pardon, describing the failure to grant one as “shameful.” He also criticized Israel’s president, urging the Israeli public to raise its voice on the issue.

Responding to Trump’s remarks, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that the request for Netanyahu’s pardon is under consideration. He stressed that any decision would be made independently, without external or internal pressure.
