UK Denies Any Role in U.S. Led Strikes on Venezuela

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the United Kingdom was not involved “in any way” in the U.S.-led military strikes on Venezuela, as questions mounted over Washington’s operation to seize President Nicolás Maduro.

Speaking to reporters, Starmer said he has not yet spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump about the operation, which reportedly took place in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas. Asked whether he condemned the U.S. action, as several British politicians have done, the prime minister said he first wanted to “establish the facts” and speak directly with Trump, citing the rapidly evolving situation.

Starmer also said the UK government is working closely with the British embassy in Venezuela to ensure the safety of approximately 500 British nationals in the country. He said efforts are focused on making sure they are well looked after, safeguarded and provided with appropriate advice.
