US Approves $151 Million Bomb Sale to Israel

The United States Department of State has announced that the administration of President Donald Trump has approved the sale of bombs to Israel worth $151 million.

According to the US State Department, Israel had requested to purchase 12,000 bomb bodies weighing 1,000 pounds each. The proposed sale includes the transfer of these munitions along with additional support services required for their operational use.

State Department Waives Congressional Review for Israel Arms Sale

Officials stated that the package will not only involve the supply of bomb bodies but will also include engineering assistance, technical support, logistics, and program support. These components are intended to facilitate the integration and operational readiness of the equipment.

The State Department noted that the decision to proceed with the sale was made in consideration of US national security interests. It stated that the immediate sale of defense equipment and services to Israel is regarded as important from a strategic standpoint.

Under the provisions of Section 36(b) of the Arms Export Control Act, arms sales of this nature typically require a period of congressional review. However, the State Department confirmed that the administration waived the requirement for congressional review in this case.
