US Deploys Aircraft Carrier as Trump Warns of Consequences for Iran
US President Donald Trump has said that a change of power in Iran would be the best possible outcome, while announcing that the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, is being deployed to the Middle East. He said if a deal with Iran is not reached, the deployment would be necessary.
Speaking to the media in Washington, President Trump said a US naval fleet is already present in the Middle East. He warned that Iran could face serious consequences if negotiations fail, while expressing hope that talks would succeed. He reiterated that the United States wants a deal with Iran.
The US president said discussions are also underway with European leaders, adding that relations with Europe remain strong. He further stated that Russia wants to reach an agreement and that the Ukrainian president must take initiative, warning that President Volodymyr Zelensky could miss a major opportunity if no action is taken.
Meanwhile, a news agency reported that the US military is preparing for a sustained and prolonged operation against Iran. Two US officials told a British news agency that such a continuous campaign would pose greater risks for US forces and the Middle East. They said the current strike planning is more complex, with the United States expected to target not only Iran’s nuclear infrastructure but also state and security installations. According to the officials, Washington anticipates retaliatory action from Iran.
Experts said operations of this nature against Iran would significantly increase risks for US forces, noting Iran’s advanced missile capabilities and warning that retaliatory strikes could heighten the risk of a wider regional conflict.
It was noted that the United States maintains military bases in Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Turkey. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has previously warned that any US attack would prompt strikes on American military bases.
