US Intelligence Confirms Iran Government Resilient To Pressure
WASHINGTON: A classified American intelligence report has concluded that Iran’s current government is unlikely to be removed, even in the event of large-scale military attacks.

According to The Washington Post, the report was prepared by senior analysts of the National Intelligence Council, which synthesizes information from 18 US intelligence agencies.
US Intelligence Warns Iran Government Resilient To Attacks
The report was completed a week before the recent Israeli and US strikes on Iranian targets. It comes amid heightened tensions, as former President Donald Trump and his administration threatened a prolonged military campaign against Iran, which officials described as only beginning.
The intelligence assessment indicated that if Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were killed, Iran’s religious and military leadership would respond according to established protocols. The report emphasized that there is no realistic possibility for opposition groups to seize control of the country.

Alternative scenarios, such as a US ground invasion of Iran or inciting uprisings in Kurdish regions, were not considered feasible in the assessment.
Report Warns Military Pressure Cannot Overthrow Iran Government
The report does not specify whether the term “large-scale attacks” refers to ongoing operations or hypothetical strikes. However, US officials noted that, so far, there have been no widespread public uprisings or internal government splits capable of establishing a new system.

Experts highlighted that Iran’s religious and military authorities continue to maintain full control over the country. Washington Institute for Near East Policy senior researcher noted that yielding to Trump would contradict Iran’s core principles, as the leadership sees resistance to US influence as a guiding principle.

Similarly, Susan Maloney of the Brookings Institution observed that there is no internal force in Iran capable of challenging the remaining government power. The regime retains complete authority across the country.
Iran’s Religious And Military Leaders Remain In Control
The report underscores the resilience of Iran’s leadership structure and the institutionalized protocols that govern responses to external threats. Analysts said the findings challenge assumptions that military pressure alone could force political change, highlighting the entrenched influence of both religious and military establishments.

With tensions continuing in the region, the intelligence report provides policymakers with a sober assessment of Iran’s stability, emphasizing that strategic calculations must account for the regime’s capacity to withstand external attacks without collapsing.
