US-Israel Airstrikes Continue as Iran Conflict Intensifies Further
Iranian authorities reported on Tuesday that at least six people were killed and nine others wounded following US-Israeli airstrikes targeting residential areas in the northwestern city of Tabriz.
Six Killed in Tabriz as Strikes Hit Residential Areas
According to a statement issued by the crisis management department in East Azerbaijan province and carried by Mehr News Agency, two residential locations within the city were struck overnight. One of the attacks targeted the Shahid Qarabaghi neighborhood, where officials confirmed six fatalities and nine injuries.
“Rescue and debris removal operations are still ongoing,” the department said, indicating that emergency teams remained at the site working to clear rubble and search for potential survivors.
A separate strike hit the Imam Hussein neighborhood in the same city, causing damage to infrastructure facilities. Authorities reported no casualties from that incident.
UNICEF Warns Children Paying Devastating Price in Conflict
The strikes come as the United States and Israel have continued sustained air operations against Iran since February 28. Iranian officials state that more than 1,340 people have been killed since the start of the campaign, including Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched retaliatory drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as neighboring countries, including Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states hosting US military installations. These attacks have resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation activity.
The humanitarian situation across the region continues to deteriorate. A senior official from UNICEF warned that children are bearing a significant burden as the conflict enters its fourth week.
Speaking in New York, Ted Chaiban, Deputy Executive Director for Humanitarian Action and Supply Operations, stated that the impact on children has been severe.

“Twenty-three days into the escalating conflict in the Middle East, children across the region are paying a devastating price,” Chaiban said during a briefing to reporters.
Millions Displaced Across Region Amid Escalating Military Operations
He warned that any further escalation or prolongation of the conflict could have catastrophic consequences for millions more across the region.
According to UNICEF figures, more than 2,100 children have been killed or injured since the conflict began. This includes at least 206 children killed in Iran and 118 in Lebanon.
Chaiban also highlighted the rapid pace of displacement caused by ongoing bombardment and evacuation orders across multiple countries.
In Iran, estimates from the UNHCR suggest that up to 3.2 million people have been displaced, including approximately 864,000 children.

“We are calling for three immediate actions: a cessation of hostilities and protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure,” Chaiban said, urging all parties to adhere to their obligations under international humanitarian law.

The broader regional conflict has continued to intensify since the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran on February 28. The campaign has resulted in significant casualties and widespread destruction.
Iran’s retaliatory strikes have expanded the scope of the conflict, targeting multiple countries in the region and contributing to instability in global markets and disruptions in international air travel.
Despite ongoing diplomatic calls for restraint, hostilities remain active, and no confirmed ceasefire or de-escalation agreement has been announced.
