US President Says Iran Should Be ‘Very Worried’ as Talks Approach

Trump Warns Iran’s Supreme Leader Ahead of Nuclear Talks

US President Donald Trump has said that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei should be “very worried,” issuing a pointed warning ahead of upcoming talks between Washington and Tehran on Iran’s nuclear program.

In an interview with US media, President Trump said he has consistently stood with the Iranian people. He claimed that had he not ordered action against Iran in the past, there would be no peace in the Middle East today.

The remarks come as the United States and Iran are scheduled to hold negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program on Friday, raising expectations of possible diplomatic movement between the two long-time adversaries.

Speaking a day earlier, President Trump said Iran appeared eager for progress, but stressed that it remained to be seen whether the talks would yield any concrete outcome.

Referring to past engagements, Trump said Iran had previously been given opportunities for dialogue that failed to produce results, prompting what he described as “Operation Midnight Hammer” against Iran. He added that he did not believe Tehran would want a repeat of such an operation.
