Uzbekistan President Accorded Guard of Honour at PM House

ISLAMABAD : President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was accorded a warm reception and a guard of honour on Thursday upon his arrival at the Prime Minister’s House, where he held a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif followed by delegation-level talks.

The Uzbek president, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior cabinet ministers, business leaders, and other senior officials, is in Islamabad on a two-day state visit to Pakistan. This marks his second visit to the country at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received President Mirziyoyev at the entrance of the Prime Minister’s House, where a formal reception ceremony was held in his honour.

The national anthems of Uzbekistan and Pakistan were played as both leaders stood on the saluting dais. A smartly turned-out contingent representing all three services of the Pakistan Armed Forces presented a guard of honour, which President Mirziyoyev reviewed.

Following the ceremony, the two leaders introduced their respective delegations before proceeding to a one-on-one meeting. The interaction was followed by delegation-level talks between the two sides.

During the discussions, Pakistan and Uzbekistan reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explored new avenues to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors. The talks also covered collaboration at regional and international forums, while accords aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation were expected to be signed.
