Pakistan, Morocco Strengthen Defence Ties During Ministerial Visit

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, completed an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco from January 12 to 14, aimed at enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation.

During the visit, Pakistan and Morocco signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation, marking a significant milestone in the countries’ longstanding ties. The agreement paves the way for deeper collaboration in military training, strategic exchanges, and joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest.

Minister Asif held high-level talks with Mr. Abdellatif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, focusing on strengthening defence partnerships. He also met with Mr. Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, to discuss broader bilateral and regional matters.

At the conclusion of the meetings, the officials exchanged gifts as a symbol of goodwill. Minister Asif presented a Pakistan-made football to the Moroccan Defence Minister, reinforcing cultural and diplomatic ties.

Prior to the official meetings, the Federal Minister visited the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where he offered Fateha and signed the Mausoleum Guests Book.

The engagements provided both sides an opportunity to exchange views on bilateral, regional, and security issues, reaffirming a shared commitment to peace, stability, and cooperation. The visit underscores the enduring friendly relations between Pakistan and Morocco and highlights mutual efforts to expand collaboration in defence and other areas of shared interest.
