Islamabad, Beijing Reaffirm All-Weather Strategic Partnership

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met H.E. Ms. Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to its All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, the Prime Minister welcomed the Chinese Vice Minister and her delegation, noting that the visit was taking place in a milestone year as Pakistan and China mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He recalled that the year had begun with high-level exchanges, including visits by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to Beijing and the Interior Minister to Shanghai, with the Speaker of the National Assembly also scheduled to visit China in the coming days.

The Prime Minister conveyed his warm greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese leadership, emphasizing that Pakistan–China relations remained unshakeable under all circumstances. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the One China Policy and expressed appreciation for China’s continued support, particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Stressing the importance of economic cooperation, he underscored the need for timely implementation of the next phase of CPEC.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended a cordial invitation to President Xi Jinping to undertake an official visit to Pakistan later this year, describing 2026 as a special and historic year for both countries.

Vice Minister Sun Haiyan thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception and reaffirmed China’s commitment to further strengthening its long-standing and time-tested relationship with Pakistan across all sectors. She congratulated the Prime Minister on achieving economic and political stability and said the Chinese people took pride in Pakistan’s diplomatic accomplishments.

She noted that the Communist Party of China maintained strong ties with a broad spectrum of political parties in Pakistan and appreciated the Prime Minister’s leadership in fostering unity among political forces for effective governance. Emphasizing the importance of party-to-party engagement, she expressed the CPC’s resolve to deepen collaboration with Pakistani political parties through structured inter-party mechanisms.
