5G Spectrum Auction to Take Place by Ramadan, Government Aims for Rapid Rollout

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima on Monday announced that the auction of 5G spectrum is planned during the month of Ramadan, with efforts underway to complete the process by the end of February.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, the minister said the government aims to move quickly once all regulatory preparations are completed. She emphasized that the auction is a key step toward advancing Pakistan’s telecommunications infrastructure.
Following the 5G spectrum auction, the minister said, the quality of existing 3G and 4G services is expected to improve within three to four months. She added that 5G services are planned to be launched in major cities within six months after the auction process is finalized.
The announcement reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing digital connectivity and accelerating the rollout of next-generation mobile services across the country.
