Pakistan-China Friendship Celebrated as Parliamentary Delegation Arrives in Beijing

BEIJING: A five-member Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, arrived in Beijing on Monday for a three-day maiden official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The visit was undertaken at the special invitation of Mr. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress (NPC).

Upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, the delegation was warmly received by Mr. Ouyang Changqiong, Member of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the NPC, and Ms. Bai Dandan, Deputy Director-General of the Affairs Bureau of the General Office of the NPC Standing Committee. Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Pakistan, Mr. Aizaz Khan, was also present.

The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, highlighting the enduring and time-tested friendship between the two countries.

During their stay, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and his delegation will meet senior Chinese leaders, including Mr. Zhao Leji and Mr. Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Discussions will focus on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and further deepening bilateral relations.

The delegation will also visit the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and the Museum of the Communist Party of China to gain insight into China’s political and legislative system.

Members of the delegation include Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change and Convenor of the Pakistan–China Parliamentary Friendship Group; MNA Muhammad Numan; Parliamentary Secretary Ms. Zeb Jaffar; and MNA Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery.

The visit marks the first state-level official engagement of Pakistani parliamentarians with China in 2026, reflecting a continued commitment to fostering strong bilateral ties and mutual understanding.
