Türkiye and Uzbekistan Launch “4+4” Strategic Dialogue to Boost Security and Diplomacy
Ankara: Türkiye and Uzbekistan have inaugurated a new high-level strategic dialogue format, holding the first meeting of the so-called “4+4” mechanism in the Turkish capital on Tuesday. The initiative brought together the foreign, defense, and interior ministers, along with the intelligence chiefs from both countries, signaling a significant expansion of bilateral cooperation across security and diplomatic domains.
The Turkish delegation was led by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and included National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief İbrahim Kalın. They met with their Uzbek counterparts within the framework of this newly established platform. Photographs from the closed-door session were shared by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on the social media platform NSosyal, although specific discussion points were not disclosed.
The launch of the “4+4” mechanism represents a substantial upgrade in relations between the two Turkic states, moving beyond traditional diplomacy to integrate key aspects of state security and internal affairs. It reflects a shared commitment to addressing mutual challenges, including regional stability, counterterrorism, border security, and intelligence sharing.
