US Vice President JD Vance to Visit Azerbaijan, Armenia to Advance TRIPP Initiative
US President Donald Trump announced that Vice President JD Vance will travel to Azerbaijan and Armenia in February to advance regional peace and economic cooperation under the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative.
Posting on Truth Social, President Trump said the visit aims to build on ongoing peace efforts and further develop the agreements reached during the August White House summit, which included Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The summit focused on reopening regional transport links by connecting mainland Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan via Armenia.
Trump highlighted that the TRIPP initiative would strengthen the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, facilitate a peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement with Armenia, and promote economic collaboration, including deals for US semiconductor companies and the sale of Made-in-USA defense equipment, such as body armor and boats, to Azerbaijan.
The announcement underscores ongoing US efforts to support stability, economic integration, and defense cooperation in the South Caucasus, while reinforcing Washington’s diplomatic engagement with both Baku and Yerevan.
