Acting Senate Chairman Meets US Political Counselor to Discuss Bilateral Ties
Islamabad : Acting Chairman of the Senate, Syed Al Khan Nasir, met a three-member delegation from the US Embassy, led by Political Counselor Shelley A.W. Saxon, at the Parliament House to discuss bilateral relations, global politics, and regional economic developments.
Syed Al Khan Nasir underscored Pakistan’s strong commitment to its relationship with the United States, emphasizing that current ties are built on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests. He highlighted that effective diplomacy under the present government has further strengthened Pakistan-US relations.
The acting chairman praised the role of US President Donald Trump in demonstrating confidence in Pakistan and lauded his historic role during heightened Pakistan-India tensions, noting that US actions have helped save millions of lives. He also reiterated Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, which have cost the country billions in economic losses, while noting that counterterrorism operations continue in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Nasir highlighted investment opportunities for American companies in Pakistan, stating that US investment would further strengthen economic and social ties between the two nations. He also emphasized that parliamentary delegations and exchanges contribute to building trust and enhancing cooperation.
The US delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace, stability, and counterterrorism and reiterated Washington’s commitment to continued collaboration. They praised Pakistan’s democratic system and expressed confidence that US companies would be informed of potential investment opportunities in the country.
