Senator Graham Says Saudi Arabia Is on Path Toward the Light

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham expressed confidence in Saudi Arabia’s trajectory following meetings with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman during the minister’s official visit to Washington.

In a statement, Graham said, “My engagement with Saudi Arabia over the past two days has given me a sense of confidence that the Kingdom – while it has its own interests – is on a path toward the light, not the darkness.” The senator added that he looks forward to visiting Saudi Arabia soon.

Graham highlighted his strong working relationship with Saudi Arabia, noting his respect for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the reforms and changes he has implemented. “I have been impressed by the direction the Crown Prince has embraced,” he said.

The U.S. senator emphasized that Saudi Arabia is focused on economic growth and prosperity for the region. “Saudi Arabia wants to be a destination of choice for people around the world and to attract the best and brightest minds,” Graham said, adding that he believes this remains the Kingdom’s strategic goal.

Graham also praised Saudi Arabia’s approach to the Syrian conflict. “They have openly said they are the friend of both the Syrian government and the Kurdish people. Their attitude of seeking compromise rather than destruction, hopefully, will win the day,” he said.

During his Washington visit, Prince Khalid met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Saudi-U.S. ties and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
