Turkish Military Chief Meets Defence Minister in Islamabad
Islamabad : Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, called on Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad, where both sides reaffirmed the deep-rooted historical friendship and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, grounded in shared history, faith, and mutual respect.
During the meeting, the Turkish military chief appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability across the region and acknowledged its constructive engagement in regional security efforts.
The visiting dignitary expressed Türkiye’s strong desire for lasting regional stability, including sustainable peace in Afghanistan, and stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation as key tools to prevent conflict and strengthen collective security.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif conveyed sincere appreciation for the consistent support and principled stance of the Turkish leadership and people, particularly during difficult times. He reiterated Pakistan’s policy of pursuing peace and stability through engagement, restraint, and cooperation with regional and international partners.
Both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including the enhancement of defence and security collaboration, institutional cooperation, and strategic coordination.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding to further expand the Pakistan–Türkiye defence partnership, guided by strategic alignment and lasting peace and stability in the region.
