Balochistan CM Says 17 Security Personnel Martyred, 145 Terrorists Killed
Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that 17 security personnel were martyred during encounters with terrorists, while the bodies of 145 terrorists are currently in the custody of security forces.
Speaking to journalists in Quetta, the chief minister said that terrorists had killed 31 innocent civilians. He added that in Gwadar, terrorists martyred five women and three children. The slain family belonged to Khuzdar and was ethnically Baloch. He stressed that those claiming to act in the name of the Baloch people were not Baloch but terrorists.
Bugti said that Afghan territory was also being used against Pakistan, and there was information suggesting that Afghan nationals were involved among the terrorists. He named Bashir Zeb, Rehman Gul, and Allah Nazar as being present in Afghanistan.
He stated that authorities had prior intelligence regarding the terrorist attack and had launched an operation a day earlier. Reiterating that 145 terrorist bodies were in custody, he alleged that these groups were acting at the behest of India in an attempt to destabilize Pakistan, particularly whenever the country was moving toward economic or political progress.
The chief minister said the state was not prepared to surrender even for a second and would continue the fight against terrorism for as long as necessary. He said the blood of security personnel and civilians was not cheap and that terrorists would not be allowed to escape accountability.
Responding to a question on dialogue, Bugti questioned why such groups were using the Baloch population as fuel for violence on India’s instructions. He said the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) was not a registered political entity with whom talks could be held, adding that it was attempting to impose its ideology through the use of force.
He further said that terrorism and violence were often wrongly linked to deprivation. He explained that indiscriminate military action could result in civilian casualties, as terrorists deliberately hide among the civilian population. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue intelligence-based operations, eliminate terrorist networks, and ensure security across Balochistan.
