Bahria Town Property in Murree to be Auctioned Amid Tax Recovery Drive

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has intensified its tax recovery drive against Bahria Town, announcing the auction of a major property in Murree as total recovery targets from the developer reach Rs26 billion.

The upcoming auction will cover 527 kanals and 10 marlas of land in Tehsil Murree and is scheduled for February 16 under ongoing enforcement proceedings.

This follows the successful sale of a Bahria Town plot on Park Road, Islamabad, which contributed Rs2.05 billion to the national exchequer. The FBR’s expanded strategy also includes a recent public notice regarding a property linked to Bahria Town Tower in Karachi, signaling enforcement measures across multiple cities.

FBR authorities have emphasized that all transactions involving Bahria Town’s seized assets in Karachi—including sales, purchases, or transfers—are strictly prohibited without prior approval from the tax authority. Any unauthorized dealings will be declared null and void.

Individuals or entities with objections or claims on these seized properties may submit their cases to the Large Taxpayer Office in Islamabad. All submissions will be reviewed under existing tax laws to ensure due process.

Observers say the FBR’s aggressive enforcement reflects the government’s commitment to recovering outstanding taxes and closing loopholes in real estate compliance, marking a broader crackdown on major developers to ensure timely fulfillment of tax obligations.
