Pakistan High Commission London Observes Kashmir Solidarity Day

London: The Pakistan High Commission in London observed #KashmirSolidarityDay to express unwavering support for the people of Illegally Occupied Indian Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and to honor their sacrifices in the ongoing struggle for self-determination.

The event drew members of the UK Parliament, human rights activists, political figures, prominent Kashmiri leaders in the UK, and the Pakistani diaspora. Keynote addresses were delivered virtually by Engineer Amir Muqam, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, and Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Chairman of the Kashmir Committee.

Other distinguished speakers included MP Yasmin Qureshi, MP Afzal Khan, MP Adnan Hussain, Lord Qurban Hussain, former MP Khalid Mehmood, Raja Najabat Hussain (Chairperson JKSDMI), Adv. Rehana Ali (Information Secretary, Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK), Ali Raza Syed (Chairman, Kashmir Council Europe), Cllr Muhammad Sadiq (former Mayor of Sutton), Cllr Amjad Abbasi, and Shamim Shawl (Executive Member, All Parties Hurriyat Conference).

The speakers paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, reaffirming their commitment to stand with them in their pursuit of self-determination—a right recognized by the United Nations Security Council decades ago. They emphasized that granting Kashmiris the right to self-determination, in line with UN resolutions, remains the only viable solution to the dispute.

Addressing the gathering, Engineer Amir Muqam stated, “Kashmir is not an internal matter of India; it is an internationally recognized dispute. Pakistan will continue to raise the voice for the Kashmiri people at every global forum until justice is delivered.”

Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon highlighted the cost of the Kashmiri struggle, saying, “The people of Kashmir have paid an immense price for their demand for freedom. Their voices must not be ignored, and their suffering must not be forgotten.”

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Mohammad Faisal, reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He noted that the people of IIOJK have endured decades of repression, including extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, communication blackouts, and forced demographic changes, yet their spirit remains unbroken.

Special prayers were offered for Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, President of AJK, in recognition of his lifelong contributions to the Kashmir cause.

Earlier, the High Commissioner, alongside prominent Kashmiri leaders and members of the Pakistani diaspora, visited a photo exhibition organized by the High Commission. The exhibition depicted the atrocities inflicted on the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
