Senate Chairman Praises UAE-Pakistan Cooperation During Diplomatic Engagement

Dubai: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Shafqat Ali Khan, met Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in Dubai on February 7, 2026, during the latter’s visit to the UAE.

During the meeting, Chairman Gilani commended the ambassador’s efforts in promoting bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE, praising his effective role in strengthening close cooperation between the two brotherly countries. He said that enhancing parliamentary cooperation, expanding economic engagement, and strengthening people-to-people ties remain key pillars of Pakistan-UAE relations.

Emphasizing the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy, the Senate chairman noted that inter-parliamentary contacts play a vital role in promoting mutual understanding and consolidating institutional ties. He added that parliamentary-level engagement contributes significantly to the development of long-term strategic partnerships.

Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan briefed the chairman on ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting trade, investment, and overall economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE. He reaffirmed the UAE’s continued interest in deepening mutually beneficial partnerships across various sectors.

Chairman Gilani also appreciated the positive and constructive role played by the Pakistani community residing in the UAE, describing people-to-people contacts as a strong and enduring aspect of the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and the UAE.
