Defence Minister Calls for Political Unity to Counter Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has called on political forces to set aside differences and unite in the fight against terrorism, stressing the need for a collective national response to the threat.

Responding to questions about the recent Islamabad attack, the defence minister said there was no doubt that security lapses occur at some level, adding that security arrangements must be further strengthened to prevent future incidents.

Khawaja Asif said the government would announce a relief package for the families of those martyred and injured in terrorist attacks, reaffirming the state’s commitment to supporting affected citizens.

He praised the role of the armed forces, police, and the public in confronting terrorism, saying they were bravely fighting against militants. Expressing confidence in the nation’s resolve, the defence minister said he believed Pakistan would defeat terrorism and overcome the challenges posed by extremist violence.
