Trump Says No Final Decision After White House Meeting With Netanyahu
US President Donald Trump met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday, where discussions focused on Iran and the situation in Gaza.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, President Trump said that no concrete decisions had been reached. He said he had emphasized the need to assess whether negotiations with Iran would result in a deal.
According to President Trump, he informed Prime Minister Netanyahu that reaching an agreement with Iran remained a priority. He added that if a deal was not achieved, the outcome of the talks would then determine the next course of action.
President Trump recalled that during the previous round of talks, Iran had decided it was better not to enter into a deal, which was followed by what he described as “midnight hammer” bombings. He said those events had not worked in Iran’s favor.
Expressing hope for a change in approach, President Trump said he expected Iran to adopt a more responsible and reasonable stance this time. He added that he also discussed progress in Gaza with the Israeli prime minister during the meeting.
Prior to his meeting with President Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the Israeli leader formally joined the US President’s Board of Peace.
