Nationwide Strikes Paralyze India Over Modi Government Policies
New Delhi : Citizens across India have taken to the streets in widespread protests and strikes, following calls by central trade unions against what they describe as “anti-worker policies” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
According to The New Indian Express, the unions issued a “Bharat Bandh” call, expecting participation from approximately 30 crore people across 600 districts. The nationwide strike has disrupted transport, healthcare, education, and the supply of essential services including gas and water.
Experts say India’s working population has been significantly affected by rising taxes, insecure employment, and deteriorating public services under the current administration. They note that growing public unrest reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s economic and labor policies.
Analysts also highlight that, despite the government’s claims of a “shining India,” the ongoing demonstrations reveal the disconnect between official narratives and citizens’ daily hardships.
