Pakistan Army Chief Holds High-Level Security Talks in Germany

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, visited Germany from 12 to 14 February to attend meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.

During the visit, the COAS & CDF interacted with a number of dignitaries and met with Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State. The discussions covered matters of mutual interest, including global and regional security dynamics and counterterrorism cooperation.

As part of engagements with German authorities, the COAS & CDF called on Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of the Interior of the Federal Republic of Germany; Günter Sautter, Foreign Policy and Security Policy Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany; and Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence of the Federal Armed Forces. The meetings focused on contemporary security issues, bilateral defence cooperation, and the importance of promoting global peace and security through bilateral and multilateral dialogue.

The COAS & CDF also held a productive engagement with Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, where bilateral military cooperation was discussed. Separately, Rodolph Haykal, Commander of the Armed Forces of the Lebanese Republic, also called on the COAS & CDF. The interaction included discussions on the global and regional security situation and measures to enhance bilateral defence collaboration.
