Columbia University Develops Robot Capable of Realistic Lip Movement
NEW YORK : Researchers at Columbia University have developed a robotic face capable of accurately moving its lips, addressing a long-standing challenge in humanoid robotics.
Published in the Science Robotics, the study explains that the robot can articulate words in multiple languages and even sing, thanks to advanced artificial intelligence.
The robot improves its abilities through observational learning. Initially, it mastered how to operate 26 facial motors, then refined its lip movements by studying human speech patterns in online videos. This development represents a significant step toward more natural and expressive humanoid robots.
