Donations via Ehsan Reach SR14bn Over Five Years
Riyadh: Ahead of the launch on March 3 of the sixth National Campaign for Charitable Work on the Ehsan Platform, officials said more than SR4.5 billion ($1.2 billion) was donated through the platform during 2025 alone.
Abdullah Alghamdi, president of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, said the platform recorded 135 million donations last year, with an average daily value of SR12.45 million, compared with about SR2.8 million during its first campaign in 2021.
He said that over the past five years, more than 330 million donations have been made through Ehsan, amounting to a total of SR14 billion.
Alghamdi said the platform is built on three core pillars: reliability, transparency, and ease of use. He added that advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence are used to verify beneficiary eligibility and prevent duplication of support, while a donation can be completed in less than five seconds.
He said the platform was designed to humanize the donation process by allowing donors to see the direct impact of their contributions, and that it operates under a governance framework comprising 13 supervisory entities and five subcommittees.
Alghamdi also said the Ehsan Waqf Fund, introduced to ensure long-term sustainability, has so far collected SR2.2 billion toward its SR5 billion target.
Majed Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipalities and Housing, highlighted the growing role of nonprofit organizations in the housing sector, noting that more than 313 nonprofits now operate within the system, supported by over 345,000 volunteers working alongside public and private organizations.
He said housing initiatives have supported more than 106,000 eligible families and prevented more than 200,000 households from losing their homes. He added that a rent-support program is assisting about 6,600 families this year, expanding the reach of support.
Al-Hogail said the Jood Eskan housing platform, which enables donors to help low-income individuals secure housing, initially supported 100 families and now serves more than 50,000 across the Kingdom. Since its launch in 2019, more than 4.5 million donors have contributed over SR5 billion to housing initiatives.
He said the progress reflects cumulative efforts based on clear governance, precise eligibility criteria, and electronic integration with relevant entities.
Al-Hogail also highlighted digital transformation measures aimed at accelerating assistance delivery, including linking a debt defaulters support platform with the Ministry of Justice, reducing case processing time from one month to 19 days. He added that an electronic signature service has cut property ownership procedures from 14 days to two days.
He said that in 2025, more than 150,000 digital operations were carried out and the needs of over 400,000 beneficiary families were assessed through the integration of national databases.
