In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Pezeshkian said Iran remains committed to peace and stability in the region. He noted that recent discussions included an exchange of practical proposals and described the signals received as positive.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a meeting could take place in Geneva on Thursday with U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff. The possible talks would mark a new step in diplomatic contacts between the two sides.
Araghchi stated that if the United States were to launch an attack on Iran, Tehran would exercise its full right to self-defense. At the same time, he said there remains a strong possibility of reaching a diplomatic solution.
He underscored that while Iran is prepared to defend itself, diplomatic channels have not been closed. According to his remarks, negotiations could still provide a viable path forward.
