Azerbaijan Protests After Iranian Drones Cross Border
Two people were injured after Iranian drones crossed into Azerbaijan and crashed near the Nakhchivan International Airport, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In an official statement, the ministry said that two Iranian drones crossed the border and entered Azerbaijani territory. One of the drones fell at the Nakhchivan International Airport, while the second crashed near a school building in a nearby village.
Drone Crash Near Airport Damages Terminal Building
Authorities confirmed that the incident resulted in injuries to two individuals. Emergency teams responded to the scene following the drone crashes.
Video footage circulating after the incident showed thick black smoke rising near the airport area. The footage also indicated visible damage to the terminal building at the airport, highlighting the impact of the drone crash.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the drones had entered the country after crossing the border from Iran. Officials stated that the incident raised serious concerns and required an immediate explanation.
Baku Demands Explanation From Iran Over Drone Incident
On Thursday, Azerbaijan formally lodged a protest with the Iranian embassy over the incident. The foreign ministry said the protest was registered through diplomatic channels following the drone crashes in the Nakhchivan region.
According to the statement, Azerbaijan described the action as a violation of international law. Officials said such incidents undermine the principles governing relations between neighboring countries and pose risks to civilian infrastructure.

The ministry stressed that Iran should provide a clear explanation regarding the circumstances surrounding the drone entry into Azerbaijani territory. Azerbaijani officials also called for measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

The crash near Nakhchivan International Airport caused damage to parts of the terminal structure, according to visuals from the site. Smoke rising from the airport area was visible in video recordings shared after the incident.

The second drone reportedly fell close to a school building in a nearby village. Although it landed near the structure, officials confirmed that the crash resulted in injuries but did not provide further details regarding the condition of those affected.
Authorities in Azerbaijan said they are closely monitoring the situation and have raised the matter through diplomatic channels with Iran.
