Trump Rejects Mojtaba Khamenei as Potential Iranian Leader
Former US President Donald Trump has said that the United States should be personally involved in the selection of Iran’s next leader following the tenure of Ali Khamenei.
In an interview with a US-based website, Trump stated that any attempt by Iran to appoint a new leader without the involvement of the United States would be futile.
Trump Warns of Future Conflict Over Iran Leadership
Trump said that if Iranian authorities try to move forward with the selection of a successor without US participation, they would be wasting their time.
During the interview, Trump also commented on speculation regarding potential successors to the Iranian supreme leader. He noted that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is widely being considered as a possible candidate for the position.
However, Trump said he would not accept such a decision if Mojtaba Khamenei were chosen as the next leader.
Trump Says US Must Be Involved in Iran Leadership
According to Trump, Mojtaba Khamenei does not possess the qualities required to lead the country. He described him as a weak personality and suggested that Iran needs a leader capable of bringing harmony and peace within the country.
Trump said the United States would prefer a figure who could promote stability and reduce tensions both domestically and internationally.
The former US president emphasized that he believes he should be involved in the process of selecting Iran’s next leader. He compared the situation to political developments in Venezuela, suggesting that the United States had played a role in political outcomes there.
Trump also stated that he would not recognize any future Iranian leader who continues the policies of the current leadership.
Trump Calls for US Role in Iran Succession
He warned that if the next leadership in Iran maintains the same policies as the existing administration, tensions between Washington and Tehran could escalate again within the next five years.
According to Trump, the continuation of current policies could potentially lead to renewed disputes between the two countries.
