Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar spearheaded an intensive diplomatic campaign on April 8, 2026, to address the evolving crisis in the Middle East. Dar engaged in a series of high-level discussions with counterparts from China, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, Morocco, Qatar, and the European Union. China Commends Pakistan’s Constructive Role in Regional Security

During a meeting in Islamabad, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed the Chinese government’s deep appreciation for Pakistan’s proactive involvement in the Middle East and Gulf region. DPM Dar underscored that Pakistan views diplomatic engagement as essential for de-escalation in West Asia. Both officials expressed optimism that current international efforts would result in a durable security arrangement that serves the collective interests of all regional stakeholders.

Strategic Coordination with Saudi Arabia and Key Arab Allies

Senator Ishaq Dar held a detailed telephonic conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan to discuss the rapidly changing regional landscape. Additionally, Qatari Minister of State Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi commended Pakistan’s constructive role during his conversation with Dar. Al-Khulaifi conveyed the best wishes of Qatar’s Prime Minister, acknowledging the significant impact of Islamabad’s efforts in creating a framework for regional de-escalation.

European Union Backs Pakistan’s Initial Ceasefire Achievements

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas held a telephone call with DPM Dar to review the latest regional developments. Kallas thanked the Foreign Minister for Pakistan’s pivotal role in securing an initial ceasefire between the conflicting parties. The EU official stated that Islamabad’s actions have created much-needed space for further diplomacy.
