Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev Removes Nasimi District Chief in Baku

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has dismissed Elkhan Ibrahimov from his post as head of the Nasimi District Executive Power in Baku, according to local media reports.

The presidential order formalizing Ibrahimov’s removal was signed by President Aliyev, Report news agency said. No official reason for the decision was immediately disclosed.

Ibrahimov had been appointed to lead the executive authority of Baku’s central Nasimi district on Nov. 12, 2025, under a separate presidential decree. His tenure in the role was therefore relatively brief.

The Nasimi district is one of Baku’s most prominent administrative areas, housing key government institutions, businesses, and residential neighborhoods. Further details regarding a successor or interim appointment have not yet been announced by the Azerbaijani authorities.
