Taylor Swift Sets New Career Record as ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ Tops Hot 100 for Ninth Week

Taylor Swift has kicked off 2026 with another historic milestone.

Her latest single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” has become the longest-running No. 1 song of her career on the Billboard Hot 100, according to Billboard. The track, from Swift’s 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl, has now spent nine consecutive weeks at the top of the chart.

With this achievement, Swift surpasses her own previous record set by “Anti-Hero,” which held the No. 1 spot for eight weeks.

Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate the accomplishment. One fan wrote, “After hearing how much money she gave to her tour crew members, I hope anything she does shines bright. Go get them, young lady.” Another added, “Twenty years into her career and she’s still killing it.” A third commented, “As it should! I can only imagine how popular TS13 will be.”

“The Fate of Ophelia” now leads Swift’s list of No. 1 hits, ahead of “Anti-Hero” (8 weeks), “Blank Space” (7 weeks), “Cruel Summer” (4 weeks), “Shake It Off” (4 weeks), “Look What You Made Me Do” (3 weeks), and “We Are Never Getting Back Together” (3 weeks).

The record further cements Swift’s status as one of the most dominant chart forces in modern music history.
