Pakistan Launches Mission to Deliver Ultra-Fast Mobile Broadband in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Islamabad : Pakistan has taken a major step toward expanding digital connectivity with the signing of four mobile broadband projects worth PKR 1.16 billion in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The agreements were signed between the Universal Service Fund (USF) and Jazz, the country’s leading telecom operator, as part of a nationwide mission to provide high-speed internet access.
The signing ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima, USF CEO Mudassir Chaudhry, and Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim, along with senior officials from the Ministry of IT, USF, and Jazz.
Speaking at the event, Minister Shaza Fatima highlighted the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide. “We are signing four projects aimed at delivering the fastest internet to the people of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” she said. “In the past six months, the USF has approved projects worth PKR 20 billion to expand digital infrastructure nationwide.”
Minister Fatima emphasized that internet access is essential for national development and pledged to ensure connectivity for every Pakistani, without discrimination. “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a Digital Pakistan can only be realized by providing these critical facilities,” she added.
The current projects are expected to benefit over 533,000 people, bringing high-speed broadband to underserved areas and strengthening Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.
