FIFA President Gianni Infantino Announces Pakistan Visit, Backs Football Development

ISLAMABAD: FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced plans to visit Pakistan in the near future, reaffirming his support for the country’s football development and growing engagement with its sporting institutions.

In an interview, Infantino said he had personally committed to visiting Pakistan during his discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, describing the visit as part of broader efforts to strengthen football ties with the country.

He praised the leadership of the Pakistan Football Federation, noting that the newly appointed president is performing “excellent work” in rebuilding and reforming the organization. Infantino described Pakistan as a nation with a rich footballing heritage and significant untapped potential in the sport.

The FIFA chief also expressed his ambition to see Pakistan emerge as a competitive football force in Asia, saying that concrete efforts were already underway to support the country’s progress in regional football.

“Our desire is to see Pakistan become a strong Asian football team, and we are actively working toward that goal,” Infantino said.
