Pakistan-UAE Logistics Ties Strengthened in High-Level DP World Meeting

Dubai : President Asif Ali Zardari met H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, to discuss expanding cooperation in ports, rail, and logistics between Pakistan and the UAE.

During the meeting, President Zardari acknowledged DP World’s sustained partnership with Pakistan and its significant contributions to the country’s logistics, port operations, and infrastructure development. He noted that recent inter-governmental agreements reflect a strong mutual commitment and align with Pakistan’s vision of becoming a regional trade and transit hub through modern connectivity and logistics infrastructure.

H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographic position amid global uncertainties, emphasizing its direct connectivity with China and Central Asia, access to the Arabian Sea, and extensive road and rail networks. He described Pakistan as a natural hub linking key global trade routes and reaffirmed the UAE’s intention to continue collaborating closely with Pakistan, drawing on decades of trusted relations.

President Zardari reaffirmed the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to providing institutional support and fast-track approvals to partner enterprises. He stressed the importance of deepening long-term cooperation in rail freight modernization, inland logistics, and integrated freight corridors. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE was also present during the discussions.
