Iran Warns U.S. of Unprecedented Response if Attacked
New York – Iran’s mission to the United Nations issued a stern warning on Wednesday, stating that any U.S. military action would trigger a response “unprecedented in history.” The statement emphasized that while Iran remains open to negotiations based on mutual respect and shared interests, it will defend itself if pressured or attacked.
The statement noted the heavy costs the U.S. incurred during past interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan, citing a $7 trillion expenditure and over 7,000 American military fatalities.
The Iranian mission posted the warning on X (formerly Twitter), including a screenshot of a post by former U.S. President Donald Trump. In his post, Trump stated that a “large naval fleet” was being sent toward Iran, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, surpassing the size of the fleet previously deployed to Venezuela. He asserted that, like the Venezuelan deployment, the fleet is fully capable of completing its mission with force if necessary.
Trump added that he hopes Iran will return to the negotiating table soon for a fair and equal agreement, emphasizing a deal that prevents nuclear weapons and serves the interests of all parties involved.
