Kazakhstan Sees USD 5 Billion Trade Potential Through Enhanced Links With Pakistan
Islamabad : Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a detailed bilateral meeting with Arman Shaqqaliev, Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad to review the existing state of bilateral trade and identify concrete opportunities for expanding economic cooperation, connectivity and investment.
The discussions focused extensively on addressing connectivity challenges between Pakistan and Central Asia, with both sides examining practical measures to unlock the full trade potential between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
The two ministers agreed that enhanced rail, road and multimodal connectivity is essential for strengthening bilateral trade and ensuring sustainable, long-term economic engagement between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Kazakh Minister underscored the strategic importance of developing major infrastructure projects, particularly railway and road corridors. He noted that such initiatives could generate trade and investment flows of up to USD 5 billion, while also creating employment opportunities and supporting regional supply chains.
He further emphasized Kazakhstan’s ambition to emerge as a regional connectivity hub linking Central Asia with South Asia, China, Europe and the Global South, including access to Pakistan’s seaports.
