Pakistan Finance Minister Seeks Clarification on Local Election Funds

Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has requested clarification from the Election Commission regarding funds allocated for local body elections in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Islamabad.

The request came during a meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) chaired by the finance minister, where the Election Commission was asked to provide detailed information on the allocations. Muhammad Aurangzeb directed that a summary of Rs 4.55 billion be resubmitted with complete details.

In the same session, approval was granted to transfer customs-seized goods to the Gilgit-Baltistan government. Separately, another meeting chaired by the finance minister approved the Exim Bank’s 2025 procurement policy.
