Germany Reassesses Relations With BRICS Amid Global Economic Shifts
BERLIN : German Foreign Minister acknowledged past missteps in Europe’s engagement with BRICS members, saying that previous approaches led to distancing from the group. He stressed the importance of focusing on commonalities with India and Brazil, despite differences with Russia and China.
The minister stated that Germany and Europe will now implement this renewed perspective, emphasizing practical cooperation. Analysts note that the BRICS economies collectively account for roughly 40 percent of global GDP, while Germany’s economy has faced declining growth since 2000, with the slowdown accelerating over the past five years.
Experts suggest that Europe, particularly Germany, may be compelled to adjust its policy toward BRICS as its economic challenges mount.
