Iran Indicates Flexibility on Nuclear Talks Linked to Sanctions Relief

Iran has said it is prepared to consider compromises on a nuclear agreement with the United States if Washington is willing to discuss lifting sanctions.

The remarks were made by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi in an interview with media .

On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said President Donald Trump prefers reaching an agreement but described a deal with Iran as “extremely difficult.”

Speaking in Tehran, Takht-Ravanchi said the responsibility now lies with the United States to demonstrate that it genuinely seeks an agreement. He added that if Washington is sincere, he is confident negotiations could move forward.

He said Iran is ready to discuss other issues related to its program, provided the United States is prepared to engage in talks on sanctions. However, he did not clarify whether this would involve lifting all sanctions on Iran or only some of them.

When asked whether Iran would be willing, as in the 2015 nuclear deal, to send more than 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium out of the country, Takht-Ravanchi said it was too early to say what progress negotiations might yield.
