Zelensky Claims Putin Has Sparked World War
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has effectively launched a third world war, calling for intensified military and economic pressure to stop Moscow’s aggression.
In an interview with a British broadcaster, Zelenskyy stated that Putin’s actions amount to the beginning of a global conflict. He emphasized that the only way to halt the Russian president is through strong and comprehensive military and economic measures.
Zelenskyy said that applying full-scale pressure on Russia remains the sole effective strategy. According to him, diplomatic efforts alone would not be enough to prevent further escalation.
The Ukrainian president warned that Putin would not stop at Ukraine. He said Russia’s ambitions extend beyond Ukrainian territory and that failing to stop Moscow now would pose broader risks to global stability.
Zelenskyy stressed that preventing Russia from occupying Ukraine would represent a victory not just for his country, but for the entire world. He said that stopping Russian advances would demonstrate international resolve and reinforce global security.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials reported that a Russian drone strike targeted the southern Ukrainian region of Odesa. According to authorities, the attack killed two people and injured three others.
Officials said the drone strike caused casualties among civilians, though further details about the extent of the damage were not immediately released. Emergency services responded to the scene following the attack.
The incident in Odesa adds to ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, which have continued amid repeated warnings from Kyiv about the broader implications of the conflict.
Zelenskyy reiterated that stronger international action is required to prevent further escalation. He maintained that coordinated military assistance and economic sanctions are necessary to pressure Russia into halting its operations.
The Ukrainian president’s remarks come as fighting continues in multiple regions of the country. Kyiv has repeatedly called on its allies to maintain and expand support, arguing that Ukraine’s defense is directly tied to global security interests.
Ukrainian authorities continue to monitor developments on the ground following the reported drone strike in Odesa. Casualty figures remain at two dead and three injured, according to official statements.
