Fuel Stocks Sufficient for 20 to 21 Days

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has clarified the current status of petroleum product reserves in Pakistan, stating that sufficient stocks are available to meet domestic demand.

According to OGRA sources, petroleum product reserves across the country remain in line with national requirements. The regulator indicated that Pakistan currently holds between 20 to 21 days of petrol and diesel stocks, providing short-term supply security amid evolving regional developments.

OGRA Clarifies Petroleum Reserves Situation in Pakistan

Officials noted that Pakistan imports the majority of its petroleum products from the Middle East. The country’s energy supply chain remains operational, with no immediate disruption reported in shipments.

In addition to refined petroleum products, Pakistan is importing eight liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes per month from Qatar, according to sources familiar with the matter. These LNG imports contribute significantly to meeting the country’s energy needs, particularly in the power generation sector.

Majority of Imports Sourced From Middle East

The clarification comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions following reported military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, and subsequent retaliatory actions by Tehran.

The escalation has raised concerns about potential disruptions to oil supply routes in the region. Analysts have warned that any prolonged conflict affecting major energy corridors could impact global oil markets and lead to price volatility.

Oil Price Concerns Rise Amid Regional Conflict

Market observers indicate that fears of supply interruptions may push international oil prices upward if tensions persist or intensify. However, OGRA’s statement seeks to reassure the public that current domestic reserves are adequate for near-term consumption.

Authorities continue to monitor developments in the region and their possible implications for energy security and pricing. No emergency measures have been announced regarding fuel rationing or supply restrictions.
