Iran Fires Khorramshahr-4 Ballistic Missiles at Israeli Targets

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that Khorramshahr-4 strategic ballistic missiles were launched against Israeli targets as part of Iran’s military campaign known as Operation True Promise 4.

IRGC Claims Strike on Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion

According to the IRGC, the missiles were fired during the latest phase of the operation targeting locations inside Israel. Iranian officials said the launch was carried out by the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iranian state media reported that the missiles struck several key sites in Israel. The reported targets included the center of Tel Aviv, Ben Gurion Airport, and the base of the Israeli Air Force’s 27th Squadron.

The Iranian news agency cited statements from the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, which said the Khorramshahr-4 missiles were deployed during the operation. Iranian officials described the missile as one of the strategic systems in the country’s ballistic missile arsenal.

The Khorramshahr-4 missile is approximately 13 meters in length and weighs around 30 tons. According to Iranian reports, the missile is capable of carrying more than one ton of explosive payload.

Officials said the missile is designed to deliver heavy warheads over long distances. Its payload capacity allows it to carry significant explosive material, making it one of the larger ballistic missiles developed within Iran’s missile program.

Iranian sources also highlighted the missile’s speed capabilities. The Khorramshahr-4 missile can reportedly reach speeds up to 16 times the speed of sound.

Iran Details Capabilities of Advanced Khorramshahr-4 Missile

Due to its high velocity, the missile’s flight time from launch to impact is estimated to be between 10 and 12 minutes. Iranian reports suggested that the short travel time could make interception by some missile defense systems more challenging.

Military analysts often note that faster missile speeds can reduce the time available for defensive systems to detect, track, and intercept incoming projectiles.

Another key feature mentioned in Iranian reports is the missile’s warhead design. The Khorramshahr-4 missile is equipped with what Iranian officials describe as one of the most advanced maneuverable reentry vehicle warheads within the country’s missile inventory.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says Khorramshahr-4 strategic ballistic missiles were launched toward Israeli targets including Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport during Operation True Promise 4.

These maneuverable warheads, commonly known as MaRV systems, are designed to adjust their trajectory during the final stage of flight. Such maneuverability can potentially complicate interception efforts by missile defense systems.

Iran Highlights Advanced Warhead on Khorramshahr-4 Missile

Iranian authorities presented the Khorramshahr-4 as part of the country’s strategic missile capabilities. The missile system has been highlighted in Iranian military reports as a significant component of the country’s deterrence strategy.

The announcement of the missile launch comes amid heightened tensions in the region. Iranian media said the deployment of the Khorramshahr-4 missile formed part of the broader military operation carried out by the IRGC.

Iranian officials provided details about the missile’s specifications and operational use while describing the reported strikes carried out during Operation True Promise 4.
