Dar Engages Commonwealth, GCC, UAE, Iran Leadership

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a series of diplomatic conversations with international counterparts and multilateral leaders to discuss the evolving regional situation and emphasize the importance of peace, dialogue, and stability.

Pakistan Emphasizes Dialogue And De-Escalation In Regional Developments

According to statements issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the deputy prime minister spoke with Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

During his conversation with Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey, Dar conveyed that due to the ongoing and evolving regional developments he would be unable to attend the forthcoming meetings of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group and the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting scheduled to take place in London.

He informed the Secretary-General that Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London would represent the country at both meetings on his behalf. The deputy prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s continued commitment to the Commonwealth and its initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among member states.

Pakistan Reaffirms Regional Stability During Diplomatic Outreach Efforts

Dar also extended congratulations to the Secretary-General and the broader Commonwealth community on the upcoming observance of Commonwealth Day, which will be marked globally on March 9. He underscored Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to the Commonwealth and reaffirmed the country’s engagement with the organization.

In a separate conversation with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the two leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and discussed developments affecting regional stability.

During the discussion, Dar expressed concern over recent attacks in the region, including those targeting the United Arab Emirates. He conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the UAE and its people during the conversation.

The leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region and highlighted the need for continued diplomatic engagement in addressing emerging challenges.

Ishaq Dar Holds Key Diplomatic Calls On Regional Situation

Dar also held discussions with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi. The two sides reviewed the current regional situation and exchanged views on developments affecting regional peace and security.

During the conversation, the GCC secretary-general appreciated Pakistan’s strong partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council and acknowledged the country’s solidarity with GCC member states.

Both leaders underscored the importance of de-escalation in the region and emphasized dialogue and cooperation as essential tools for maintaining peace and stability.

In another diplomatic engagement, the deputy prime minister spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss recent regional developments.

The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving situation and agreed to remain in contact as developments continue to unfold.

The series of diplomatic contacts reflects Pakistan’s ongoing engagement with regional and international partners on issues affecting regional security and stability.

Officials stated that Pakistan continues to emphasize dialogue, cooperation, and diplomatic engagement as key mechanisms for addressing challenges and promoting peace in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Pakistan remains committed to working with its partners and international organizations to support efforts aimed at reducing tensions and maintaining stability across the region.
